About the Artist

Living in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama, I have spent fifteen years creating abstract art. I painted in my spare time until 2022, but now that I have retired from my 9-to-5 corporate career, I am blessed to be able to paint almost daily. Seeing a painting take shape and take on a life of its own brings me joy.  Using acrylic and ink is my preference. I also enjoy painting without brushes by using oil pastels.

My style is contrast and texture-focused. Routines and themes do not come naturally to me. I am highly mood driven so staying in a specific color family is rare. I am influenced and drawn to bold hues, textures, and large-format pieces.

I have so much more to learn and experience in terms of mediums and techniques, but my style is abstract expressionism.  As long as we breathe, we are changing and growing in our perspectives and experiences. I am enjoying the process of growing my portfolio and re-experiencing the way a painting resonated with me at the time of painting. I look forward to exploring more mediums and incorporating additional techniques as I learn and grow.

Creative Expression Through Abstract Art

Art is important to me because it puts me in touch with feelings I can’t easily access by using my mind only. The tangible and visual experience not only brings feelings to mind but painting and creating art helps me to express those feelings even when I don’t consciously feel them. I think that’s why I love abstract art so much. It’s the act of the intangible and inexpressible becoming tangible.

The greatest compliment I could receive is to turn someone who has never loved or collected art before into an art lover. Recently, I sold four paintings to a couple who had never purchased art before. Knowing that I helped create two new art enthusiasts makes me very happy.

Using just canvas and paint, the process of bringing something to life that would not have existed otherwise is exciting to me. If I’m fortunate enough to watch another person see it and experience something that can't necessarily be put into words, that’s just amazing.
