About the Artist
I am a professional dog trainer and behavior consultant out of Pelham, Alabama, who is passionate about animals and art. My dogs have been a giant inspiration for my artistic journey as they are with me 100% of the creative process. My vision regarding upcycled art is to eliminate unnecessary landfill waste and cultivate creativity within our community. I paint using a hydro-dipping technique. It is a simple, flow-state-inducing process that has been rewarding on so many fronts. Being able to detach from everyday stimuli and enter the world of creation, is a joyful & therapeutic experience that I hope many others get to experience regularly throughout their lifetime.
My primary canvas over the past few years has been discarded or damaged vinyl records. As a record and music enthusiast, I cherish vinyl and love the physical nature of handling the medium. Through this journey, I have found a way to utilize and give new life to the surplus of vinyl that is too damaged to play or is just collecting years and years of dust. The discovery process patrons experience while digging through my art crates gives me a nostalgic and heart-expanding feeling.
My motivation with this artistic venture isn't to profit but rather to create something beautiful out of something that otherwise would have been discarded; and if my dogs and other humans can benefit along the way, I believe we all win. That said, ALL proceeds go to my dogs and other local dogs in need (vet care, food, toys, projects, adventures, etc.)
Lastly, another mission of mine is to ignite the artistic flame within our youth. I have held workshops for middle school art classes and live demonstrations for children in our community. All kids who venture into an exhibit of mine are welcome to a piece of art of their choosing.
