About the Artist

Claire Cormany is a Southern artist who is known for loose abstracts that draw a personal reaction from viewers about their own associations with landscape and color.

Textural application of paint using brushes, knives, tools, and hands in multiple layers creates depth, tone, and shape in her works.

After earning a degree in Art/Graphic Design with a concentration in painting from Samford University, Cormany made her home in Birmingham to pursue a career as an Art Director at Southern Living magazine, Coastal Living magazine, Time Inc. Books, and Portico Mountain Brook magazine—all the while developing her painting style and techniques, producing works for local interior designers, galleries and clients throughout the Southeast.

Her paintings have been featured in publications including Southern Living and Coastal Living, private shows, and juried art festivals including Magic City Art Connection, Naples Festival of the Arts, Brookgreen Gardens Art Festival, Highlands NC Mountaintop Art Show, Bluff Park Art Festival, and Fairhope Art Festival. Her work was also honored with a national first prize by The Art Institute of Chicago, where her painting spent a year on display.
